4th Of July 2024: What's Open, Closed Around Ashburn, Loudoun County
Most government offices will be closed, and some services will operate differently on Thursday for the Independence Day holiday.
ASHBURN, VA — As many families head to vacation destinations, host barbecues and watch fireworks on Fourth of July, many government offices and services will be closed or altered.
Fourth of July falls on Thursday, July 4 this year. Here are the openings and closings to know around Ashburn and the rest of Loudoun County.

Loudoun County government: Closed on July 4.
Town of Leesburg government: Closed on July 4.

Loudoun County Public Schools: Schools and offices are closed on July 4 and 5.
Loudoun County courts: Circuit Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court are closed on July 4 and 5.
Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers in Northern Virginia will be closed on July 4.
Loudoun County Transit: All Loudoun County Transit bus services are cancelled on July 4, which covers the Commuter Bus Service, Local Bus Service (including routes serving the Silver Line Metrorail Stations), the Loudoun County Courthouse Shuttle, and Paratransit Service. Loudoun County's Transit and Commuter Service Division of the Department of General Services will close at 5p.m. on July 3 and reopen at 8:30 a.m. on July 5.
Loudoun County Public Library: All branches are closed on July 4. Regular service resumes Friday, July 5, at 9:30 a.m. Online resources remain available.
Metrorail: Metrorail will open at 7 a.m. and close at midnight. Regular weekday fares will be in effect until 5 p.m. All trips after 5 p.m. will be fare-free, and parking will be free all day at Metro-owned garages and lots. More weekend Metrorail information is available here.
Parks and recreation: Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services administrative offices, senior and adult day centers, and all community centers will be closed on July 4. Park grounds, including trails, gardens, playgrounds, off-leash areas, skate parks, courts, and fields remain open from dawn to dusk.
Pools and splash pads: The Lovettsville Community Center pool will be open from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 4 and will close early at 5 p.m. on July 3 for the Independence Day Celebration at Lovettsville Community Center & Park. The Independence Day Pool Bash at the Lovettsville Community Pool is held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on July 3. The Franklin Regional Park pool and splash pad will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4. The splash pad at Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park and nature center will have regular hours July 4. The Round Hill Aquatic Center will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 4.
Post offices: Closed on July 4.
Recreation centers: The Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center and the Dulles South Recreation and Community Center will be open from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 4. The Franklin Park Arts Center remains closed through July 31 for upgrades to the theatrical lighting system and other facility maintenance.
Trash and recycling collection: Town of Leesburg will have no trash or recycling collections on July 4. Residents with private collection services should check with their hauler for any changes.
