ASHBURN, VA — A Loudoun County public school substitute teacher was arrested on April 20 and charged with making threats, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Hadyn Dollery, 19, of Chantilly, was arrested and charged with threats of bodily injury, the sheriff's office said. Dollery was arrested after Loudoun deputies were told Dollery had been making online statements threatening violence at John Champe High School.
The sheriff's office clarified that Dollery had not been working at John Champe High School, however.
Dollery was arrested off school grounds and is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
The sheriff’s office said it was made aware of the threats via the Safe2Talk app, a free, downloadable app that students, parents, teachers or residents can use to anonymously report safety concerns in schools.
According to the sheriff’s office website, reports through the app are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “In cases of imminent threats, LCSO Patrol Deputies and School Resource Officers are immediately notified,” it says.
It’s not clear if this report qualified as an imminent threat.
John Champe High School is in the unincorporated town of Aldie. According to Public School Review, it has 1740 students.
Requests to Loudoun County Public Schools were referred back to the sheriff's office.
