LEESBURG, VA – Loudoun County Animal Services will be waiving adoption fees at the county animal shelter on 42225 Adoption Drive in Leesburg from May 8 through May 10, the department announced.
Adoption fees will be waived for all available pets, which include cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and other small animals.
Friday’s adoption hours are also being extended to 8 p.m. to give every furball a chance to find their forever home. Adoption hours on Friday, May 8, will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Standard adoption hours of 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. will apply Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10.
“We often hear people say they are rushing home from work to adopt on the Friday before a big adoption event, so we are so excited to give people a chance to bring the whole family by on Friday evening and adopt a new best friend at no cost, in addition to welcoming everyone to our fee-waived, weekend event,” Operations Manager Melissa Heard said in a press release.
The standard adoption screening process will still apply, but the county says most adoptions can still be processed the same day. The adoption application can be found here.
Adopters will receive a starter supply bag with key items to help welcome their pets to their new home, and everyone adopting a dog or puppy at the event will get free dog training classes through the Loudoun County Animal Shelter.
The usual adoption fees at the shelter run from $2 for a fish to $150 for dogs and kittens.
Available pets and more information can be seen here. As of May 1 there were 15 cats, 13 dogs, and some birds, a turtle and more looking for homes. More information can be found at loudoun.gov/animals.
