ASHBURN, VA – Loudoun attorney Ryan Ruzic announced he is seeking the Democratic nomination for Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney on May 5.
In a press release, the former chair of the Loudoun County Democratic Committee said, “We need to work together to ensure Loudoun has safe streets, safe schools, and that the rule of law is applied equally to everyone. No one is below the law’s protection, even the very poor and powerless, and no one is above the law’s reach, even the very rich and powerful.”
Ruzic has spent most of his career as a public defender, according to his LinkedIn profile, but also worked as a prosecutor in Arlington. He claims the endorsement of Congressman Suhas Subramanyam and Loudoun’s entire state legislative delegation: Senator Russet Perry, Senator Kannan Srinivasan, Delegate David Reid, Delegate Atoosa Reaser, Delegate Marty Martinez, Delegate JJ Singh and Delegate McAuliff.
The general election for commonwealth’s attorney will be held in November 2027. The current commonwealth’s attorney for the county is Republican Bob Anderson. Anderson also appears to be an early contributor to Ruzik’s campaign, according to the Virginia Public Access Project.
