ASHBURN, VA – A Sterling woman accused of running a far-reaching real estate scam was indicted on more than a dozen additional charges on Monday.
Kimberly Hoan Vu, 45, of Sterling, was indicted on Monday on 15 counts of obtaining money under false pretenses.
Vu had already been indicted on 26 charges related to an alleged scheme in which, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, she posed as a real estate agent and fraudulently offered houses, townhouses and rooms for rent. She is accused of taking security deposits and the first month's rent for properties she never delivered to prospective tenants.
Loudoun authorities say the scheme dates back years.
Vu has also been indicted for abduction of a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and assault and battery. A hearing on those charges has been scheduled for June 11. The abduction charge is a Class 2 felony.
The sheriff’s office believes there could be additional victims connected to this case and is asking anyone with information to contact Sergeant Wilson at 703-777-1021 or to call Loudoun County Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919 to report anonymously.
