Loudoun County is hosting an online public comment period, July 28 – August 11, 2026, to collect input on a project to extend the existing merge lane along eastbound Route 7 from the Loudoun County Parkway entrance ramp to the Route 28 exit ramp. When complete, the project will provide four continuous lanes between the two interchanges.

Members of the public are encouraged to watch a recorded presentation and provide input about the Route 7 eastbound widening concept at loudoun.gov/Route7MergeLane. Input gathered through August 11 will be provided to the project team and the Board of Supervisors.

This project is currently in design with construction estimated to begin summer 2028.
