Juli Briskman Launches Bid For Loudoun Board Chair, Targets Data Center Growth

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County Supervisor Juli Briskman announced Tuesday that she is running for chair of the Board of Supervisors, launching a campaign centered on stopping further data center expansion in the county.

Briskman, a two-term Democrat representing the Algonkian District, said she plans to make data center development a defining issue of her campaign.

"For too long, we've been told we don't have a choice and that we can't stop data centers and big corporations from taking over our county," Briskman said. "I'm running for chair of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors because it doesn't have to be this way."

Briskman said her other priorities as chair would include lowering housing costs, diversifying Loudoun's economy and making county government more responsive to residents.

Briskman's decision to run means she would face incumbent and fellow Democrat Phyllis J. Randall in a 2027 primary election, who has held the at-large seat since 2016.

Her campaign pointed to her record of opposing data center expansion and rezoning proposals since 2022. Briskman has served on the Board of Supervisors since 2020 after first winning the Algonkian District seat in 2019.

"It's time to stand up to data centers and big corporations and stand with the people of Loudoun to build a community that's affordable and livable for all of us," Briskman said.

Briskman's campaign also highlighted her work on rural businesses, redevelopment and transportation, as well as her opposition to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office cooperating with federal immigration enforcement.

Early endorsements announced by her campaign include Loudoun County School Board Chair April Chandler, Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation District Director Uzma Rasheed, School Board member Sumera Rashid and former Loudoun NAACP President Phillip Thompson.
