ASHBURN, VA – Loudoun County is assessing what its residents know about invasive plants through a new Invasive Plant Species Knowledge Survey.
In a release, the county government said it wanted to learn about residents' awareness of invasive plants, their ability to identify common invasive species and their experiences and current practices in managing invasive plants.
The survey results will be used to identify knowledge gaps and inform county outreach efforts, as well as find opportunities to connect residents with resources, Loudoun County says.

The state of Virginia also provides a searchable database and other materials of invasive plants in the state.
There are a variety of methods for removing invasive species. The best choice will depend on the plant, the time of year and the surrounding environment.
The county also offers site visits by master gardeners to identify invasive species and make recommendations, and the county offered a tree exchange program that sent native saplings to Loudoun residents to replace invasive tree species on their property. All 2026 trees have been reserved.
