Area School Scores Top 1% In all Categories On National Standardized Testing
Despite a minimum amount of preparation for the standardized testing, the children at the Nysmith School have scored in the top 1%
Although The Nysmith School in Herndon Virginia spends less than a week preparing for the annual standardized testing, the school received notice that the students have again scored in the Top 1% in every category on the IOWA Test of Basic Skills. The IOWA standardized test is the largest of the National standardized tests. At Nysmith, all students in both the fourth and sixth grade are tested each year.
According to the report from ITBS, the average Nysmith 4th grader scored as high on the test in reading and math as the average US 7th grader would score on the same test.
The average 6th grader at Nysmith scored as high on the test in reading as the average US 10th grader, in math they scored as high as the average 11th grader would on the same test.

The Nysmith School is a private school serving 585 children ages three through eighth grade. The school is known for its fun approach to academics and diversified reading and math levels. Children change classes with each subject so that teachers are able to teach the subjects that they are most passionate teaching.
