Ashburn Fugitive Wanted On Child Sex Charges Captured In Cambodia

ASHBURN, VA — An Ashburn man who fled the country nearly a year ago after being charged with sexually assaulting a juvenile was captured Tuesday in Cambodia, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Samuel D. Lovejoy, 31, was arrested in the wee hours of the morning by the Cambodian General Department of Immigration.

Lovejoy had been arrested Jan. 6 of last year and charged with two counts of sexual assault of a juvenile younger than 13. He was released from jail four days later on a $25,000 secured bond and is believed to have left the U.S. on Feb. 15.

He finally was tracked down by a joint effort that included the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit, the FBI, the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Marshals and the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. He's awaiting extradition back to the U.S., where he also faces a charge of felony failure to appear in court.
