Ashburn Gymnastics Coach Guilty of Sexual Battery On Child
A youth gymnastics coach has been found guilty of aggravated sexual battery for repeatedly touching an 11-year old girl inappropriately.

LEESBURG, VA—A youth gymnastics coach has been found guilty of aggravated sexual battery for repeatedly touching an 11-year old girl inappropriately Dec. 2 during an open gym event in the NVGA Gymnastics Studio at 4675 Cape Court, according to the Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney.
Brian D. Nguyen, 44, of Sterling, was sentenced by a jury to six years behind bars and handed an $11,000 fine. His formal sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 11. The jury deliberated nearly seven hours.
The girl had gone to the gymnastics facility to celebrate a friend's birthday. During the event, according to prosecutors, Nguyen targeted her and repeatedly touched her inappropriately. The victim told her friend, and the girls told their parents what happened on the way home from the gym.

Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Joshua P. Steward told the jury that "the defendant picked a child whom he thought was weak and who wouldn't say anything. Fortunately for all of us, he chose poorly. The victim, while quiet and reserved, was courageous enough to recognize what he was doing and turn to her friend
for help, and together they have helped us bring a child predator to justice."
Nguyen also will be required to register as a violent sex offender. In 2014, Nguyen was convicted of assault and battery when he was a substitute teacher in Stafford Country. Among other things, he grabbed the thigh of a teenage girl. He was sentenced to three months in jail, and Steward told the jury about that conviction.
