Ashburn Restaurant Inspections: Manhattan Pizza, OXUS7

ASHBURN, VA — Several restaurants around the Ashburn area were cited with violations during the most recent round of inspections by the Loudoun County Health Department. Inspectors visited the locations between Dec. 29 and Jan. 4.

As coronavirus restrictions continue to fluctuate, health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

  • Date inspected: Dec. 29
  • Total violations: 9
    • Observed Hand sink at front tea area to not have flowing water.
    • Observed hand sink in the back of house being used to hang hose used to fill Pho cooking pot with water. Hand sink at front of house has faucets turned off with no water flowing.
    • Observed Bean Sprouts at line given out with pho to have a temperature of 61F. Observed Yogurt in Tea area to be 44F.
    • Observed Bottle of "Ortho Home Defense Insect Killer" intended for residential use only on premises, as well as "Off" repellant spray stored above prep area.
    • Observed light shining visibly through bottom of backdoor allowing for possible entry of pests. Please ensure door is closed during operation unless utilizing a screen.
    • Observed Tongs stored on Oven, Tongs resting on lid of container holding bean sprouts with outer part resting on outside of serving container, and knives stored underneath microwave. Please ensure that rice scoops stored in empty pho container are sanitized at appropriate frequency.
    • Observed Bleach Strips utilized for testing sanitization in Dishwashing Machine to have an expiration date of "2/19"
    • Observed wet mop laying on floor.
    • Observed coat hanging from dry storage, shoes on floor in prep area, employee cup with straw over prep area, and other various employee owned personal items in various area of kitchen.

    • Observed Handsink in Pizza Line prep area to not have paper towels.
    • Observed Hand Sink in the Back Prep Area by 3 VAT sink to not be functioning.
    • Observed bottle of "Cutter Backyard Bug Control Outdoor Fogger" labeled "For outdoor use only" in back of house.
    • Observed visible white light shining under door in back allowing for possible entry of pests.
    • Observed In Use Tongs being stored on handle of oven with tongs in contact with surface of oven, which is not sanitized at appropriate frequency.
    • Observed wet mop in dry mop bucket, not in drying basin.
