Ashburn Sports Fans, We Need Your Help

Give your favorite teams and athletes a 'shout out' online at Patch.

Even though the weather isn't perfect, it's officially spring and all three Ashburn high schools are now getting underway with the very busy spring sports season.

Ashburn Patch will have reporters at our local high school games often, but with three high schools and at least SEVEN spring sports at each one, that is a daunting task. So we are asking for your help. We want to keep the community apprised of game results, and we know that many Ashburn Patch readers are also sports parents.

If you attend a game and want to report the results, there are several ways to do it:

  1. Email sports editor Sean Farrell (sean_ashburnsports@yahoo.com) with results and photos.
  2. Put the final score and a “shout out” to any star players on our homepage comment box.
  3. Look for our feature called "The Scoreboard," and add your game results to that in the comments.

Results can be as little as a mention of the sport and score (i.e., "The Broad Run girls softball team defeated Freedom 6-3 on Tuesday") or a brief recap – try and keep it to one paragraph – of what happened in the game (as well as the score, of course).

News we would like to know: the team record, who scored, when the next game is scheduled.

In addition, if you have a tip about a local athlete or coach who has done something outstanding on or off the field, please let us know so we can highlight their accomplishments on Ashburn Patch. Also feel free to post your athlete's or team's photos and scores on our Facebook page.

And we're not limited to high school sports – lower level school sports, Little League or even information about former Ashburn athletes succeeding at college or professionally are welcome. We can't post it if we don't about it.

Thanks in advance, and we look forward to hearing about your team or athlete.
