Broad Run High School to Host Spartan Spectacular Winterguard Competition

Saturday, March 18th, 2017, the Broad Run High School Band Program, in conjunction with the Broad Run High School Band Boosters and the Atlantic Indoor Association, will host their eighth Spartan Spectacular, welcoming over thirty Winterguard units from across the region to the competition floor. These units, featuring middle school, scholastic, university, and independent programs, will compete across seven classification levels. Each Winterguard unit will perform a visually stunning, choreographed show featuring flags, weapons, and dance.

Loudoun County units performing at Spartan Spectacular include Stone Bridge HS Winterguard, Potomac Falls HS Winterguard, Rock Ridge HS Winterguard, Briar Woods HS Winterguard, and John Champe HS Winterguard.

Our Broad Run HS Winterguard will thrill the audience as they present “Killer Detectives.” Don’t miss out on this exciting Whodunit! The Broad Run Winterguard is under the direction of Ashley Flock and Andy Schlaf, and is assisted by Ryan Ignacic.

Taking the floor in exhibition, we are proud to present 2016’s Scholastic Region A Champion – Broad Run HS Percussion – performing their 2017 show, “When I Grow Up.” Prepare for a tug at your heartstrings! The Broad Run Percussion program is under the direction of Dylan Mercer, Megan Constantinides, and Andy Schlaf, who are assisted by Andrew McConnell, Rachel Rood, and Tim Smart.

The Broad Run HS Winterguard and the Broad HS Percussion units comprise the winter season program of the Marching Spartans, led by Director Ryan Dempsey.

Spartan Spectacular is open to the public and is highly recommended for local dance, percussion, and music students who may be entering high school soon. Spartan Spectacular is an exciting introduction to the Broad Run High School Band program, especially for students who are interested in becoming a Marching Spartan!

Tickets ($15.00) are available for purchase at the door and cash, personal checks (made out to BRHS BBA), and credit cards are accepted. Children under 3 are free. Doors open at noon and the competition will begin at 1:00 p.m. There will be a Dinner Break from approximately 4:15 p.m. to 5:10 p.m.

A broad range of concessions will be available for purchase, with cash and credit card accepted, in our cafeteria. Be sure to check out our vendors and grab your custom t-shirt, too!
