Broad Run Hosts 3 State Tourney Games Tuesday

Ashburn high school sports fans may want to clear their schedules Tuesday night – Broad Run is set to host three state tournament quarterfinal games in baseball and boys and girls soccer. The Spartans earned the right to host the games after each of the three teams captured regional championships last week. The soccer teams ran away from their opponents last Friday, while the baseball team held off a late surge by Potomac Falls to eke out the 6-5 title game win Saturday (see Chuck Moore's photos from the game with this article; also ).

The Briar Woods softball team rounds out the Ashburn teams still playing in the state tournament, as they hit the road to take on Region 1 champion Powhatan.  The Falcons lost to Powhatan 4-0 in last year's state quarterfinal game.

Tuesday night's complete playoff schedule is as follows:

Broad Run girls soccer hosts Jamestown at 5 p.m.

Broad Run boys soccer hosts Tabb at 7 p.m.

Broad Run baseball hosts Jamestown at 5:30 p.m.

Powhatan hosts Briar Woods softball at 6 p.m.
