Broad Run Spartan Soccer Rolls Over Opponents

Girls and boys teams dominate opponents and move on to finals.

Broad Run’s soccer teams earned big regional semifinal victories Thursday night, advancing to Friday's regional finals and punching their tickets to the state tournament.

The boys and girls teams relied on scoring explosions from Kevin Reitzel and Ellie Zoepfl, respectively, to earn their victories.

Reitzel pulled out a hat trick, scoring all three Spartan goals in the boys 3-1 win over visiting Potomac Falls. Reitzel gave the Spartans the early lead with a header into the back of the net. The Panthers battled back to tie the score on a great shot by Isaac Owusu before the half. But in a decisive three-minute span late in the second half, Reitzel added another goal off a great assist from Christopher Sobieski and then punched in a penalty kick to put the game out of reach.
