Broad Run Spartans Defeat Potomac Falls In Five Inning Shut-Out

The Spartan Varsity Softball team shut out Potomac Falls with an early victory on Friday night

Broad Run Varsity defeated Potomac Falls 11-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout over five innings. Katrina Potak struck out Peggy Tuma to finish off the game.

Broad Run fired up the offense in the first inning. Sara Kelly’s sac fly scored one run for Broad Run Spartans Varsity.

Broad Run notched four runs in the fifth inning. Broad Run's offense in the inning came from a single by Lauren Enstrom, a sac fly by Libby Griffis, a groundout by Abigail Neff, and an error on a ball put in play by Erin Cassidy.

One bright spot for Potomac Falls was a triple by Laurenne Galagher in the first inning.

Kelly led Broad Run to victory on the pitcher's mound. She surrendered zero runs on three hits over four innings, striking out two. Potak threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Broad Run had a strong offense, racking up 12 hits in the game. Lauren Mizelle, Neff, Griffis, and Enstrom each had multiple hits for Broad Run. Enstrom, Griffis, Neff, and Mizelle all had two hits to lead Broad Run. Broad Run was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Mizelle made the most plays with seven.

Broad Run is currently 5-2 for the season.
