Broadlands Preschool Recommended for AdvancED Accreditation

Members of an AdvancED on-site evaluation team have recommended the Primrose School of Ashburn at Broadlands for accreditation through their organization. School accreditation is a year-long process that starts with a self-evaluation done by the school's Leadership Team and staff, including documentation and evidence of supportive interactions, intentional learning, positive guidance and health and safety. It culminates with a two day visit from an external review team that observes classrooms, interviews teachers and parents and reads over months of documentation to find evidence of the high quality standards set by AdvancED.

The evaluating team said, "The owners and the management team have a strong commitment to the work of the school and have gone above and beyond the expectations to provide for the safety, cleanliness, and security of staff and students. The staff implements a well-developed curriculum that provides advancement and continuity. Communication between school and home is well developed, and a strong assessment system consisting of formal and informal measures, standardized and non-standardized, is implemented to ensure that student progress is being accurately documented."

Owner, Adela Taboada, and School Director, Jennifer DeFlorio, commented, "We are very proud of all the hard work and dedication of our entire team to exceed the very high standards of AdvancED. The Primrose School of Ashburn received its original accreditation through AdvancED-SACS in 2013, after a mandatory one year of operations, now its sister school the Primrose School of Ashburn at Broadlands is also recommended for accreditation with AdvancED. All schools seeking AdvancED accreditation have to implement its educational quality assurance systems, and document them for a full year before accreditation can be requested. It is then that a stringent educational, operational and safety audit is conducted by AdvancED and recommendations are made as to whether the school should be accredited.
