ALDIE, VA — Police caught two men trying to break into an electrical storage yard leased by Dominion Energy in Aldie on Saturday morning, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities identified the men as Christopher Macmillan and Joshua Settle, two Manassas residents. They were charged with possession of burglary tools, attempted larceny, trespassing, and conspiracy to commit larceny.

Macmillan was held without bond, while Settle was held on a $7,500 secured bond.

If convicted of all charges, the two men could face up to 40 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

Loudoun County deputies received a report of a break-in around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday in. The report said two men were cutting a fence on property that Dominion Energy leases to another business as an electrical storage yard.

When deputies arrived at the storage yard on Auburn Farm Road, they found that the two men had broken into the storage yard, authorities said. The deputies then took the men into custody and found a bag with wire cutters nearby.

"While the incident remains under investigation, all indications point to the subjects being there to steal copper wire," the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said in a report. "Dominion Energy officials confirmed there was no breach of an adjacent Dominion Energy Substation."
