Chesterbrook Academy® Preschool Campers Donate $1,000 to Local Org

Students held a fundraiser at the school to benefit Habitat for Humanity® of Washington D.C. & Northern Virginia

Summer campers at four Chesterbrook Academy Preschools in Northern Virginia - including Ashburn, Herndon and Sterling - presented more than 300 items and $1,000 to a representative from Habitat for Humanity of Washington D.C. & Northern Virginia. For the past two weeks, campers at the schools worked together to raise money for the organization through lemonade stands, selling bracelets, bake sales and more. Campers also collected cleaning supplies, paper goods, tools, kitchen items and gift cards to benefit the organization. Campers also helped to load the items and speak with the representative about how their donations will benefit local community members in need. To celebrate their incredible achievement, the schools had a Bike Day where campers were invited to ride their bikes at the school together.

Chesterbrook Academy Preschool instills a sense of social responsibility at an early age by implementing opportunities for students to learn about the importance of giving back to their communities and helping others in need. Its signature Links to Learning preschool curriculum emphasizes social emotional learning as a stepping stone for kindergarten and beyond, working with children to help recognize and label emotions in themselves and others, while learning how they fit into their community and the larger world.
