Chesterbrook Academy Raises Over $2,100 for Blood Cancer Research

Students raised funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and participated in a Light the Night Walk

Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool in Aldie recently donated more than $2,100 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). For the past few weeks, students collected online donations, sold t-shirts, held a spirit week and raffled off pumpkins they decorated to raise money for the nonprofit. At the end of the fundraiser, students, families and staff participated in a Light the Night Walk which celebrates, honors and remembers those touched by cancer. The money donated will help LLS fund lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provide patients with support services and financial assistance. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of helping others in need.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
