Child Struck By Vehicle In Ashburn Crosswalk, Driver Charged: Police
A girl was hospitalized on Monday after a vehicle hit her while she was walking in a crosswalk in Ashburn, the sheriff's office said.
ASHBURN, VA — A girl was struck by a vehicle in an Ashburn crosswalk on Monday morning, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Police said the girl's injuries were not life-threatening.
The crash occurred around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Legacy Park Drive and Olympia Drive in Ashburn, according to the police report.
The child was walking with a guardian in a crosswalk before the crash. A vehicle then hit the girl as it was making a left turn from the stop sign, authorities said.

First responders took the child to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for her injuries. In its report, the sheriff's office did not specify the child's age.
Authorities said the driver was charged with failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian. The sheriff's office did not identify the driver in their report.

In their report on Monday, the sheriff's office included several tips to help protect pedestrians from drivers. "Be safe, be smart, be alert," the report said.
