Cooking Science for Kids at INMED's After-School Program
Kids in the INMED Family & Youth Center after-school program practice cooking to learn about science, math and creativity.

Mad Scientists in the Cooking Lab: In the latest after-school “science cooking” activity, students created their own chocolate and bubble gum. The experiment required lessons in chemical reactions, involving mixing, heating and rolling out the bubble gum dough. Accurate measurements were key to achieving the right flavors for the bubble gum. The chocolate had to “cure” overnight, creating an atmosphere of anticipation of what they would find the next day.
It was a tasty lesson in science, math and gastronomy that the children will remember. For more on INMED’s after-school program, visit www.opportunitycenter.us/program.
