Crashes, Delays On I-66 And The Inner Loop: AM Traffic In NoVA, DC

NORTHERN VIRGINIA — Happy Wednesday, Patch readers! Temperatures are expected to soar today, so stay cool if you can.

On The Road

Around 7:07 a.m., a crash blocked all but the left lane of US-17 near Majestic Drive. The crash occurred around 6 a.m., but delays remained.

At 7:36 a.m., a disabled vehicle blocked the right lane of westbound I-66 near US-50 in Fairfax. The lane was reopened around 7:45 a.m. but delays remained.

At 7:37 a.m., there was a crash on westbound I-66 near VA-123. All lanes were open but there were delays, especially in the left lanes by the crash.

At 7:38 a.m., there was a crash on the Beltway Inner Loop near the Dulles Toll Road. All lanes were open but delays remained.

At 7:45 a.m., the right lane of eastbound I-66 was blocked by a crash near US-29/Centreville.

At 7:56 a.m., a northbound lane of I-395 just past the Seminary Road Exit 4 was shut down. VDOT only described the cause of the shutdown as an "incident."

On the Rails

Orange Line stations are shut down beginning at Stadium-Armory for the summer improvement project. Shuttles are available. Minnesota Ave, Deanwood, Cheverly, Landover, & New Carrollton are closed.

Weather

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and hot, according to the AccuWeather forecast. The temperature was around 75 degrees at 7:30 a.m., but the high is expected to be 95 and the low 78.

As of 6:59 a.m., Mayor Muriel Bowser has activated the District's Heat Emergency Plan due to Wednesday's forecast of extreme temperatures
