LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County deputies used a Taser on a man near the pool of the Claude Moore Recreation Center on Saturday evening, the sheriff's office said. Authorities claimed the man threatened deputies with a belt after he'd attempted to rob two people.

No serious injuries were reported as part of the robbery or assaults, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities identified the suspect as Edwin Amaya Ramos, a 26-year-old man from Sterling.

Amaya Ramos is charged with two counts of attempted robbery, three counts of assault on law enforcement, one count of obstructing justice, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of public intoxication.

Amaya Ramos is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Saturday evening. The original report described a fight at the Claude Moore Recreation Center's pool area.

Deputies claimed that when they arrived on the scene, they found an intoxicated man trying to assault someone. The man, who police later identified as Amaya Ramos, didn't follow the deputies' orders, according to the police report.

The sheriff's office wrote that the man "pulled off his belt and held it in an aggressive manner, and approached two deputies."

One of the responding deputies used a Taser, according to the sheriff's office's report.

The deputies learned that two other victims had already left the area. The victims said Amaya Ramos demanded their wallets, phones, and glasses.
