Drunk Driving Sneaker Campaign Begins In Loudoun
Loudoun County Sheriff's stations are accepting sneaker donations to raise money for MADD during the month of March.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with GotSneakers to help raise funds for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) of Loudoun. As part of the fundraising effort, residents can donate unwanted adult and children’s paired sneakers, tied together, by March 31.
GotSneakers is a sneaker recycling organization and social fundraising platform that will compensate MADD Loudoun for every pair of useable sneakers collected, regardless of condition.
After the sneakers are collected, GotSneakers will process and distribute the sneakers around the world, specifically to impoverished nations. GotSneakers has partners in nations that will distribute them to people in need in other countries.

From an environmental perspective, the donated sneakers that are too damaged to distribute in other countries are processed and ground into surfaces for playgrounds, gym floors, tracks, outdoor courts and synthetic turfs.
In 2019, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office joined with local businesses and organizations to collect more than 4,000 pairs of sneakers in the county.
