After a brief delay, Duck Donuts is almost ready to celebrate its grand opening at a new location in South Riding.

SOUTH RIDING, VA — Duck Donuts is scheduled to open this week in South Riding.

In a Facebook post, the owners noted that they delayed the opening to allow more time to train staff members.
The owners told Patch they originally wanted to open in September, after their initial inspection from the health department. That inspection was set for Sept. 7 before being moved to Sept. 26.

The health department did not record any violations in their pre-opening inspection at Duck Donuts.
The South Riding facility will be the first Duck Donuts in Loudoun County, though it will join an array of nearby locations around Northern Virginia. Notable nearby locations include Duck Donuts in Springfield, Herndon, Alexandria, Arlington, and Bristow.
Duck Donuts was founded by Russ DiGilio in the Outer Banks in 2007. The Duck Donuts website says DiGilio enjoyed vacations with his family in the Outer Banks, but they thought something was missing.
Since opening the first location in 2007, Duck Donuts has spread to more than 100 facilities in 26 states.
"We are dedicated to delighting our guests by treating them like family and consistently providing a superior product and exceptional customer service in an authentic manner," the chain says on its website. "We pride ourselves on our community engagement and commitment to make changes for the better through innovation every day."
