DUI Patrols Come To Loudoun County For St. Patrick's Day: Police

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Additional DUI patrols are coming to Loudoun County on Friday for St. Patrick's Day, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said more deputies will be watching for drunk drivers during the holiday.

"We are committed to ensuring that the public is safe while traveling on our roads and want to remind residents to make smart choices — don’t drink and drive," Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a news release.

Loudoun County residents are eligible for the Washington Regional Alcohol Program's Sober Ride initiative. From 4 p.m. on Friday through 4 a.m. on Saturday, residents can get a free Lyft ride up to a $15 value. More information about the Sober Ride program is available online.

The sheriff's office also outlined the following tips for residents looking to celebrate on Friday:

  • Get a designated driver before going out.
  • Use a taxi, Uber, Lyft, friend, or family member to drive home safely after drinking.
  • Always wear a seatbelt.
  • Report reckless driving to authorities.

" LCSO deputies will be on patrol and alert for impaired motorists, and you will be arrested if caught drinking and driving," authorities said.
