Dutch Olympian Jeroen Hertzberger comes to Loudoun

Loudoun County League - Field Hockey

Leesburg, VA – On Thursday, June 18th, Loudoun field hockey players had the opportunity to sharpen their skills and get a little starstruck when STX, a global sporting goods leader based in Baltimore, sponsored a clinic featuring Euro Hockey League top scorer and Dutch Olympian Jeroen Hertzberger. Hertzberger spent two hours with 50 current and future high school players from Loudoun County.

Upon learning field hockey was to be added as a high school sport in 2016, STX worked with the Loudoun County League (LCL) to set up the clinic with STX-sponsored Hertzberger. Despite earlier thunderstorms and high humidity, everyone in attendance at Evergreen Sportsplex in Leesburg had a great time. As Hertzberger posted on his Instagram account, “Playing Huge in and around Baltimore & Washington! Great people and great hockey spirit!”

LCL, a member of the Beyond Sticks’ non-profit Play Beyond the Game, is a recreational field hockey league open to girls in grades 6 through 12. With field hockey being added as a varisty sport to Loudoun County high schools in 2016, girls have the opportunity to register and play with LCL in 2015 to prepare for the 2016 season. Registration is now open for the Fall 2015 season. Register before July 4th to take advantage of early bird pricing.
