ASHBURN, VA — An employee at Potomac Falls High School was arrested on Friday morning, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said the employee, Amy Richards, was drunk at the school.

Richards was charged with one count of drunk in public. Police brought her to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center before she was released on her own recognizance.

Drunk in public is a class 4 misdemeanor in Virginia, punishable with a fine of up to $250. There is no jail time associated with the charge.

WJLA reported that Richards was placed on paid administrative leave. On Monday morning, Richards was no longer listed in the Potomac Falls High School staff directory.

Before it was removed, Richards's staff directory page noted that she had worked with Loudoun County Public Schools for more than 20 years, including 8 years at Potomac Falls High School. She had previously worked as a co-teacher in 10th grade English classes at the school.
