Alex's Lemonade Stand

In an effort to join the battle against childhood cancer, local Sterling residents, including several young volunteers, and help from area businesses, will host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 12-8PM at Mahalo Cove (46300 McClellan Way, Sterling, VA). Members of the community were inspired to get involved with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation after purchasing a box of Mike&Ike's Lemonade candy.  After finding out how easy it was to get involved, they decided to hold a lemonade stand of their own. They look forward to their first stand, and hope to hold many more in the years to come.

Our first lemonade stand of many, will include a whole afternoon of fun for the entire family.  We will have a 300 gallon dunk tank, live  music, car wash, raffle, 50/50, kids activity center with face painting, as well as Ritas Flavored Ice.  Our goal is 10,001 dollars which may seem a bit high for our first stand, but our community has really pulled together and I believe we may exceed that with everyones help.  We hope everyone will join us as we put together a great event for an even greater cause!  We will ALL win!

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $40 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 150 research projects nationally.
