New World Wines and Old World Wines. A great debate? How do wines coming from newer wine regions compare to their traditional counterparts? Join our winemaker as we learn about the differences between wines from the New World regions (the Americas, Australia, South Africa, etc.) versus those in more traditional regions (France, Spain, Germany, etc.). Step through a series of blind flight tastings of identical varietals grown and produced in very different lands. Try some international wines and choose which you enjoy the most.
In this event:
- Join our winemaker for a discussion of the history of many New and Old World wine regions
- Discuss traditional winemaking methods relative to modern winemaking
- Taste comparative flights, e.g. California Chardonnay vs. white Burgundy,
- Australian Shiraz vs. Rhone Syrah, Bordeaux vs. Meritage, etc.
- Vote for the group's overall favorite wines–Old World vs New World
