St. David's Episcopal Annual Shrove Tuesday (aka Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras) Pancake Supper at Wingler House in Ashburn Village

The expression “Shrove Tuesday” comes from the word “shrive”, meaning “confess”. The term Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday” referring to the traditional practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual of fasting during the Lenten season, which begins the next day on Ash Wednesday.

Pancakes are made from eggs, flour, milk and oil and in days of old, people would not eat them during Lenten fasting, so they would use up all of those items making a pancake feast on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.

Join us in the celebration Tuesday February 17 from 5:30-7:30pm at Wingler House in Ashburn!! Members of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Ashburn will be preparing delicious pancakes, sausage and apples for the seniors at Wingler House and anyone in our community. Cost is $5 per person or $20 per family of 5 or more. EVERYONE LOVES PANCAKES!!!!
