Fred Smoot Not Guilty of Assault Claim: Reports

Fred Smoot, a former Redskin defensive player and an Ashburn resident, was found not guilty Monday of a misdemeanor domestic assault charge, according to reports, including The Washington Post.

Police responded to a call at Smoot’s home Nov. 23. Smoot’s girlfriend had claimed Smoot grabbed her during a fight, according to the Post.

Smoot admitted to busting in the bathroom door but said that he never touched her with an intent to harm, according to WUSA9.

The judge ruled what happened didn’t rise to the level of domestic violence.
