Going Out Tonight? Police Are Setting Up Sobriety Checkpoint
It's part of effort by Loudoun County Sheriff's Office to curb drunk driving.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, March 28, starting at 7:30 p.m.
The office designed the checkpoints to raise awareness and discourage impaired driving.

“In the past several years, DUI arrests and DUI-related crashes have steadily declined through the efforts of local, regional and national educational and enforcement campaigns to curb drunk driving,” Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement.
“In Loudoun County, DUI-related arrests declined 12.6 percent between 2010 and 2013, a trend similar to the 17.2 percent decline in DUI arrests observed by law enforcement agencies throughout the country,” he added.

In Loudoun County, DUI-related crashes have decreased by 28 percent over the past two years.
“The decrease ... coupled with the decline in arrests, reflect the national trend that fewer people are getting behind the wheel while intoxicated,” the sheriff said.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Auxiliary Unit and volunteers from the Loudoun Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will assist with the checkpoint.
