Human Remains Found In Sterling Could Be From 20th Century
A sheriff's deputy found the remains in a wooded area.

STERLING, VA—The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office had a bizarre finding upon further investigation of potential skeletal remains of a person discovered in Sterling on Oct. 6.
The Office of the Medical Examiner and anthropologists determined the skull is potentially from the early to mid-20th century era. There are no signs of foul play or threat to the community.
The sheriff's office says it's unclear where the skull came from. There were no other remains found in the wooded area.

A sheriff's deputy on foot patrol found the remains in a wooded area near West Church Road and North Aspen Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 6. The skull appeared to be discarded in the wooded area and was drawn and painted on.
The skull did not have any identifying characteristics, according to authorities.
