Infant Left With 7-Year-Old Babysitter in Sterling: Police

The young babysitter reported a non-existent burglary to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office; mother was charged with child endangerment.

STERLING, VA — A possible burglary in progress was reported to authorities Thursday by a babysitter watching a 1-year-old infant. The only hitch was that there was no burglary in progress and the babysitter was all of 7 years old, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

After police determined there hadn't been a burglary and discovered the circumstances of the babysitting job, the mother of the infant was located.

Amanda Gollu, 28, of Sterling, was charged with one count of child endangerment.
