International Company Announces $1M Loudoun Investment

An international integrated technology and operations company on Wednesday announced plans for a $1 million investment Center Oak Plaza in Sterling expected to provide 250 jobs during the next two to three years.

iGATE Corporation joins Loudoun's international business base of more than 80 firms from 24 countries.

“The Commonwealth was picked over other states considered due to our pro-business environment and proximity to an ample resource of skilled technical workers,” said Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) in a press release. “iGATE’s new operation in Loudoun County  will  expand the company’s U.S. presence in the Washington, DC, metropolitan  market.

According to several releases about the announcement, iGATE the company performs a wide range of technology consulting services for government agencies and businesses, and plans to offer design-build-operate-maintain services for federal government projects.

iGATE employs 27,000 people and maintains offices in London, Tokyo, Bombay, California and Boston.
“Loudoun has become a top location for international businesses looking to access the U.S. market,” said Loudoun, Virginia Economic Development Director Tom Flynn.

Last year, Loudoun’s international businesses employed more than 3,600 people.

“Establishing this facility in Loudoun County, the home of the Washington Dulles International Airport, gives iGATE access to 80 percent of the world’s economies – a key advantage to a global organization,” said Loudoun County Chairman Scott K. York (R-At Large). “In addition, with more than 900 federal government contractors located in Loudoun, and with almost 20 percent of the County’s workforce employed by the information and communications technology industry, doing business in Loudoun makes perfect sense for a company like iGATE.”

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Loudoun County to secure the project for Virginia. Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Business Assistance plans to provide funding and services to support the company’s recruitment and training activities.

Supervisor Matt Letourneau, chairman of the Board's Economic Development Committee, said he expects such positive business announcements in the county to continue.

“We will continue to work together to bring jobs and commercial revenue to Loudoun, and are actively working on several other potential prospects,” he said.
