iTunes Gift Card Scam Disguised As Job Offer in Sterling: Police

If you receive a job offer on your college email address, it's gotta be legit, right? No, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

STERLING, VA — Whenever someone on the phone asks you to provide payment for services of any kind with iTunes gift cards, be very wary. Consider, if you will, what happened to a resident Monday in the 0 block of Halifax Court, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A message was sent to the resident's college email address about a job opportunity, which included buying items with money that would be sent to resident.

The resident accepted the "job," received a check, deposited it and was asked to send an undisclosed amount of money back to the "employer" with, yes, iTunes gift cards.
