Kids Left Alone in Hot Vehicle in Ashburn

Two small children were left alone in a hot vehicle Thursday afternoon in Ashburn: Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Police retrieved them.

ASHBURN, VA — Two small children were left alone inside a hot vehicle Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of the Junction Plaza shopping center, 43300 block of Junction Plaza, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Rescue personnel responded to the scene to evaluate the children, who turned out to be OK.

Police found the children's mother inside a store in the shopping center. The case remains under investigation in coordination with Loudoun County Child Protective Services and the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Shortly before 4 p.m., police responded to the scene and found the two small children, both of whom were crying. Because of the high temperatures outside, an officer entered the vehicle through an unlocked door and got the children out. A rescue unit immediately responded.
