Local Dancer Receives Appointment to The Dance Company at Virginia Tech

Creative Dance Center is very pleased to announce that Erin Mattimiro has been appointed to The Dance Company at Virginia Tech for their 2014-2015 season. When not performing with DCTV, Erin is at the Virginia Tech Honors Program pursuing a Business major and a member of the New River Valley Strings Orchestra.

Erin, originally hailing from Ashburn, VA, competed and performed for 16 years with Creative Dance Center and the Competition Team where her artistic and highly skilled technical abilities help the team earn countless regional, national, and world championships in groups and productions as well as achieving many personal regional Top Ten Soloist placements. She also choreographed for the Institute of Performing Arts for Youth, housed at Creative Dance Center, and performed many seasons of IPA Youth’s Nutcracker, appearing most notably as Clara, the Snow Queen, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Erin, a 2014 Stone Bridge High School graduate, was the founding member, co-captain, and choreographer for Stone Bridge High School’s Dance Team. Erin says, “dancing at CDC fostered my love of dance and helped shape my desires to explore and remain involved in the dance world in all its facets for many years to come.”

The Dance Company at Virginia Tech is a student organization with the purpose of fitness, friendship, artistic expression, and performance service. DCVT dancers’ abilities cross a wide range of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, modern, and pointe. All choreography is created by members and is original to DCVT.
