Hannah Serota, of Creative College Connections, has earned the distinctive designation of Certified Educational Planner (CEP). Serota is now an influential part of a small but growing group of educational consultants and school counselors in the nation who have earned the exclusive designation. The CEP certification is granted only to those consultants and counselors who meet stringent application requirements including a Master’s degree, specialized training, significant professional experience and involvement in professional activities and organizations. Ms. Serota passed the board-certified examination in October of 2016 after months of preparation.
Serota opened Creative College Connections, an educational consulting practice in 2010 with a mission to serve families needing to make plans and decisions about college. Ms. Serota guides families through the daunting college preparation and admissions protocol by reducing anxiety caused by college admission process. Her program identifies "best fit" colleges for the student - detailing those colleges and universities that best fit academically, personally, and financially while breaking down what seems to be an overwhelming task (applying to college) into a few sensible and manageable steps and finally by helping families maintain a semblance of "normalcy" through the college admission process. The profession of college counseling has grown in importance and recognition, as the need for a post-secondary education increases.
“The group of Certified Educational Planners is a remarkable one,” noted Judy Bass, Chair of the American Institute of Certified Educational Planners (AICEP), “Never before in the profession of educational consulting have persons been asked to demonstrate such a high level of professional knowledge and experience. We are proud to have Ms. Serota receive this certification,” said Bass, “We believe this certification sets the standard for professional college counselors not only in knowledge and experience, but in ongoing professional development. There is no higher mark of distinction in the profession.”
