Local “Warrior “Hockey Team to Compete in Chicago April 5-8
The Capital Beltway Warriors, Disabled Veteran Standing Hockey Team to participate in the Toyota-USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Festival

The Capital Beltway Warriors, a local Disabled Veteran Hockey Team (known as Warrior Hockey Teams), will be sending a standing team to Chicago, IL to participate in the 14th annual Toyota-USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Festival to be held at the Leaf's Ice Centre in West Dundee, IL. The Festival has taken place in a different area of the country each year with huge success and tremendous growth. The mission of the Festival is to provide a fun and exciting weekend of hockey in a grand event as well as promote and grow disabled hockey throughout the country. The event is the largest disabled hockey event of its kind.
The Capital Beltway Warriors are all local Disabled Veterans that have either played hockey for years, or, through the help of the program, have taken up hockey as a type of therapy for dealing with issues such as post-traumatic stress syndrome. Many of the players also play in local hockey leagues, but they find that playing with like-minded individuals who share common experiences such as military life and combat, makes the team a pretty special thing to be a part of.
The Team was formed in 2017 so that they could compete in their first event, the USA Hockey Inaugural “Warrior Classic” that was held right here in the National Capital Region at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in May of 2017. The Capital Beltway Warriors have grown in numbers since the Warrior Classic and started raising funds about 6 months ago to get members of the team to Chicago.
