Loudoun County Man Charged In Nationwide Medicare/Medicaid Fraud Takedown

ASHBURN, VA – A Loudoun County man is among 13 people charged on Tuesday in connection with a nationwide investigation into alleged Medicare and Medicaid fraud.

The charges are part of the Department of Justice’s 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced in a press release.

The office said the two-week nationwide law enforcement action resulted in charges against 455 defendants, including 90 doctors and other licensed medical professionals, who are accused of being involved in health care fraud and opioid abuse schemes using over $6.5 billion in false claims.

The alleged consequences are not only financial — the U.S. Attorney’s Office says the schemes resulted in patient harm and even death.

Fifty state Medicaid Fraud Control Units participated in the takedown, according to the office’s statement. In addition, accused fraudsters in Cyprus, Estonia and the Philippines were apprehended and brought to the US for trial.

Taking part in the action were, among other agencies, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which suspended 1,079 providers and revoked billing privileges for 1,403 providers.

On Tuesday alone, civil charges were brought against 13 defendants for $14.8 million in alleged health care fraud schemes, the office says.

One of them is Abdul Rehman Sirhandi, 57, of Aldie, who was charged directly by a judge with conspiring to make false statements in health care fraud matters in connection with a medical equipment fraud scheme. Sirhandi is accused of acting as the straw owner of a medical equipment company, Pulse Medical Supply, and conspiring with others in Texas and Pakistan to submit approximately $780,627 in false and fraudulent claims to Medicare, of which approximately $313,233 was paid.

Other defendants in the Eastern District of Virginia are Jair Barbour, 37, of Henrico, and Mikia Noble, 37, of North Chesterfield.
