Loudoun County School Board Mandates More Coverage In Student Dress Code Update

Students will be required to wear shirts and shorts of a certain length and forgo plunging necklines.

ASHBURN, VA – The Loudoun County School Board approved changes to the school system’s dress code in their meeting on Tuesday, mandating a certain level of coverage for student attire.

According to the revised dress code, student tops must cover their sides, mid-back and lower back; extend to the waist; and feature a neckline that does not extend below the imaginary horizontal line connecting the underarms. Shorts are required to be worn in such a way that the lower torso and buttocks are fully covered.

Loudoun Now reports that this was the school board’s third review of the dress code changes and that efforts to ban pajamas, slippers and hats failed.
