Loudoun Duo Opens Just Run U

Two women have started a new business in Loudoun intended to help anyone become healthier through running. The idea is to educate, motivate and build community through exercise and healthy living.

Tracy Endo and Sandy Brown launched Just Run University to coach an array of students, from those needing to learn the rudiments of proper running to those trying to improve their current performance. The school offers virtual classes that begin in July, with plans for physical classes in the fall.

“We really want JRU to be a place where we can motivate and encourage people to attain their physical activity goals in a non-threatening environment, so they feel comfortable continuing a lifestyle of healthy exercise habits,” co-owner Tracy Endo said in a press release. “Our virtual classes will be offered nationwide because we know there are people in small towns across America that don’t have access to a good coach and we want to be that for them.”

Endo also said JRU hopes to provide an environment that makes participants feel comfortable, whether taking online or in-person classes.

“With JRU’s programs there is no longer a need for people to feel intimidation in joining an exercise program,” she said in the release. “We’ll build a sense of community in both our virtual and in-person classes and we’ll keep the training so fun that our students won’t want to ‘graduate.’”

Registration is underway for Orientation, which is geared toward people who have done little to no running or exercise during the past six months. Orientation is intended to help students work up to a 5K, or 3.1-mile, run or run/walk. Classes cost $60 per month for two months.
