Loudoun Lyme Race Sunday in Ashburn

The 7th annual Loudoun Lyme Race is Sunday in Ashburn, beginning at Brambleton Town Center. It includes a 10K, a 5K and a 1K walk/fun race.

ASHBURN, VA — Inasmuch that Lyme's Disease is an often debilitating tick-born illness that affects Loudoun County more than any other county in Virginia, here's a chance to run head-on into the problem. It's Sunday's 7th annual Loudoun Lyme race event, beginning 8 a.m. at the Brambleton Town Center, 22855 Brambleton Plaza.

The event includes a 10K race, a 5K race and a 1K family walk/fun race. Its purpose is to drive awareness and raise money in the race to find a cure for Lyme's Disease, which is the No. 1 tick-borne illness in the United States. The race was founded by Steve Gotschi, owner of Sterling-based DryHome Roofing and Siding, after he saw that many of his friends and customers are battling the disease.
