Loudoun Superintendent Search: School Board Asks For Resident Feedback
The Loudoun County School Board has opened a survey for community members as they continue their nationwide search for a new superintendent.

LOUDOUN COUNTY,VA — The Loudoun County School Board has opened a community survey to assist in the nationwide search for a new superintendent.
Officials said the survey will allow parents and community members to identify the qualities that they believe are most important in a prospective superintendent. The school board hired the GR Recruiting Firm to lead the search last month.
The school board has said they expect a new superintendent to be hired before the start of the 2023-2024 school year.

Daniel Smith is currently serving as an interim superintendent for the Loudoun County school system. He was promoted after the previous superintendent, Scott Ziegler, was fired in December.
The school board chose to fire Ziegler after a grand jury indicted him due to concerns about his handling of a pair of high-profile sexual assaults at Loudoun high schools.

“The Loudoun County School Board welcomes public participation in this important process,” Board Chair Ian Serotkin said in a news release. “I encourage everyone to take 5-10 minutes to complete the survey and share your opinions."
The survey will be available online until March 21. It is open to students, parents, teachers, and community members.
The survey also includes questions about the school division's current performance. Survey takers are asked to rank the school system's transparency, strengths, relationships, communication, and fiscal management.
School board members have said they expect a new superintendent to be announced in the spring with a potential start date of July 1.
