ASHBURN, VA — A man from Ashburn was arrested over the weekend after police said he tried to bite several deputies, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities identified the man as 44-year-old Milton Chew, Jr. He is charged with public intoxication, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, expectorating in a public place, and five counts of felony assault on law enforcement.

Chew is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. If convicted of all charges, he could face up to 25 years in prison, based on Virginia's sentencing guidelines.

According to the sheriff's office incident report, Chew was escorted out of a business by security around 10 p.m. on Saturday. A deputy was already in the area near Thorndike Street and Exchange Street in Ashburn, police said.

Authorities claimed that Chew resisted deputies when they tried to take him into custody. The sheriff's office said Chew tried to bite three deputies, kicked two deputies, and tried to spit at one of them.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office did not specify what business removed Chew from their property. They also did not say whether any of the deputies were injured while trying to take Chew into custody.
