Motorcycle Riders Dies After 2 Vehicles Struck Him On I-66 In Fairfax County: Police

A motorcyclist died on Friday after he was thrown from his vehicle in a crash and then hit by oncoming traffic on I-66, police said.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A motorcycle rider from Sterling died on Friday in a fiery crash on I-66 in Fairfax, authorities said. Two vehicles hit the rider after he was thrown from his motorcycle.

Virginia State Police officials identified the deceased motorcycle rider as 29-year-old Jeffrey Armstrong. He died at the scene of the crash.

Investigators said the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, near mile marker 50 on I-66. Armstrong was riding a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R 600 eastbound when he ran into the back of a 2003 Honda Odyssey, authorities said.

The force of the crash threw Armstrong from the motorcycle. While he was laying in the traffic lanes, two vehicles crashed into Armstrong and his motorcycle, which then caught fire.

No other drivers were injured in the crash, Virginia State police said. Authorities noted that Armstrong was wearing a helmet.
